If you are thinking about going to Cheerleading Camp and don’t know what to expect I think you may be pleasantly surprised by how valuable this experience may be for you.  Being away from home is not easy if you have never been away at camp.  For some of the older girls, this is an experience that they can’t get enough of.  Summer!  What a great time of the year to hangout at Cheer Camp and meet a whole new circle of friends that you will stay in contact with and count down until the next year registration time.

If you have never been to camp you can expect to be sharing living space with lots of girls where you will learn how to work together and communicate as you learn lots of new responsibilities at camp.  The camp councilors will make sure you are following the camp rules to ensure your safety at camp.  As you know safety on and off the mat is important.  Do your best to know and follow the camp rules.

Some of the things you will learn at cheer camp are cheerleading safety, partner stunts and transitions, new routines, pyramids and general game day planning for the cheerleaders who are routing for their team.  Learn the latest techniques from the experts and learn hand on spotting techniques and stunting.  Be ready to work and learn form the experts.  It is a great way to keep your skills sharp over the summer and learn some new things from the volunteers, coaches and other girls.

It seems like a lot of work for summer vacation but don’t be surprised you will have lots of planned fun activities such as cook outs, camp fires, and swimming.  Going away to camp will be a long lasting experience.  Be sure you get good recommendations from friends or family on how the camp operates so you know that there are positive endorsements.  Cheer camp is not inexpensive!

Be ready for camp and make your self a list of items to bring.  Pack the quantity necessary to make it through your stay if there are no washing machines.  Leave all your valuables at home.  You do not need jewelry or laptops, etc.  If necessary, bring a lock for your duffle bag so you can lock your items up.  I know, this sounds bad but I have seen things missing amongst close friends.

Items to pack in your Zebra Cheer Bag:

  • T-shirts/Sweatshirts/Tank Tops
  • Shorts, slacks, jeans and sweat pants
  • Socks and Cheer Sneakers (Bring your old pair)
  • Accessories, hair ties, shampoo, conditioner brush…check out our competition checklist for more items…you won’t need your makeup, bring the basics.
