There are so many kids who live for cheerleading but there are some who have made cheerleading their life like Emili who is 16 years old from Holt, Michigan.  Emili has been cheerleading since she was 12 years old.  She started cheerleading in middle school in her home town of Napoleon, Michigan.

Emili loved cheerleading so much that when she moved Lansing, she wanted too continue competitive cheerleading but her high school only had sideline cheer.  She was happy to participate with her team and gave it her all.  She was determined to continue her career as a competitive cheerleader so tried out for 9th grade high school cheer squad at Holt High School.  She was happy and proud that she had made the team.

Her love of competitive cheerleading did not stop.  Emili decided to join Capital Cheer Michigan who has won numerous national cheer championships.  Capital Cheer offered competitive cheer teams comprised of highly skilled group of males and females that compete throughout Michigan and the United States.

For then next year Emili did both high school and all star cheerleading while maintaining her GPA at 4.0.  Maintaining the rigorous schedule of cheerleading practice and her high school academic status requires a lot of dedication and hard work.  Emili has received a sportsmanship award for sideline cheer at Lansing, she has been an honor roll student since 7th grade, and most recently been accepted into a high school Health Occupation College Course this year in which she is receiving all A's.

Most recently Emili has joined her most loved family, Mid Michigan All Stars.  Emili cheers on the Senior Level 2 Diamonds Team and Senior Level 5 Aces Team.  She also has a little sister who is on the Youth team whom she helps with her cheerleading moves.

Emili has overcome so much in her life.  Her family’s job situation has required her family to move often.  Moving into a new community, school and cheer team is difficult and requires flexibility, and a positive attitude.  These qualities have helped her over come many injuries and set backs.  She broke her wrist catching a flyer falling off pyramid when she was 14, and injured her knee practicing her standing tuck when she was 15.  Overcoming the fear of being injured again, she worked very hard too overcome the issue and is now throwing her round off spring tuck and has almost mastered her standing tuck.  Emili is definitely not a complainer.

Not that Emili hasn’t overcome enough, at last months cheer competition she dislocated and fractured her ring finger during her tumble pass for her Senior Level 2 Team.  The injury was caused by mat floors improper set up were a gap in the mat caused her finger to get stuck.  Emili finished the routine and they made Grand Champion.

Emili’s family is extremely proud of her perseverance and hard work.  Her mother Teresa feels that she is a bit of a hero.  Her family is hoping she will not require surgery and can return to her passion and her family the Mid Michigan All Stars very soon.
