We see it everyday, negative expressions, gestures, words written in our social media news feed, on our televisions, at school, at sporting events, at cheerleading and even sent by text message.  It is contagious and a topic that keeps resurfacing. The damaging effects of poor attitude or sportsmanship can devastate our friends, families and loved ones.  It is time to minimize the negative and maximize the positive. Everyone can make a difference.

In the world of sports, competition is fierce.  Training hard to win an event is not an easy task and is not taken lightly.  Being a winner matters but not at the expense of exhibiting poor sportsmanship.  The real winners maximize the positive.  Positive attitudes are exhibited through hard training, team work, sportsmanship, leadership and respect.

At all times, you and your team should demonstrate good sportsmanship by remaining professional and courteous.  Route on the other team by applauding.  Avoid making comments about the other team’s performance or short comings.  Bragging, or ridiculing a person or team should not be tolerated.  Everyone deserves their moment of recognition without being overshadowed by negativity.

Be the first to improve your team’s image.  Be a leader in the fight for positivity.  You can make a difference.  Join the forces of an Anti-Bullying Campaign in your community.  Be a leader and exhibit outstanding sportsmanship and humanity by spreading the word.  Stand up for what is right and do not tolerate acts of poor sportsmanship. Be a winner.
