It is that time of the year again.  Cheer practices at the gym and on the field have already started.  The sucess of your cheer team depends upon how well they perform together as a team.  Starting early in the season with team bonding excercises helps the create friendships and trust.  Things will run much more smoothly when the teams works hard and plays well together.  The team will feel more passion and enthusiasum when everyone is enjoying their time together…win or lose.

Give the team time at the beginning and end of practice to talk and enjoy each others company.  This time is valuable in forming relationships that will last for years to come.  Help the new comers to join in and be part of the team.

Plan activities throughout the season.  I always loved doing crafts, pool parties (early in the season of course), attending charity or cheer events hosted by other organizations.  Helping out a good cause help build values and character.

One idea I found really enjoyable was tie dying socks and tshirts in our team colors.

These can be found at your local craft store or department store and are quite inexpensive.  This was a craft best conducted outside!  All the girls were invited to my house where we had the tie dye buckets set up on the lawn.  The girls were asked to bring the white socks and sport bra and I provided all the tie dye and snacks.  It did get a little messy but nothing the lawn hose didn't take care of.

Don't forget the photo shot!  Yes, we took lots of crazy pictures, most to embrassing to post.
