Cheer and Dance Makeup Don’ts
I have attended many competitions this season and I am so surprised that coaches allow their team to apply makeup without instruction. When it comes time for Nationals or Cheer and Dance Worlds teams take the time to buy high quality cheer and dance makeup and get instruction on how to apply makeup for a clean professional appearance.
I know the High School and Recreational Teams may not be able to afford a lot of money on professional makeup but there are many alternatives to choose from when deciding on team makeup. I cannot tell you what I have witnessed, raccoon eyes, glitter all over the face, streaks of color across an eyelid, and other cheer and dance makeup don'ts!
Depending on the look you are going for whether it is glitter or eye shadow, you can find affordable high quality product that will get you those appearance points. Sometimes for the younger girls who cannot apply their makeup without crossing the don't line…..less is better. A simple one color application of powder eye shadow and mascara can bring out the team color. If you are applying glitter, a simple glitter eyelid is easy to accomplish without looking like you just fell in a bucket of sparkles.
For those of you that are not versed in apply stage makeup, consult with the cheer and dance makeup professionals. Pick up the phone and have them talk you through the makeup application process. Find out what products will work best for your team. The ladies in the makeup business love nothing more than to talk makeup. There are endless possibilities.
